More About
Mrs. Dempsey

My name is Kristi Dempsey and I am so thankful to be a part of such a fabulous school!  I have been teaching in DCSD for the past 21 years, 14 of them in third grade and seven in first.  I taught second grade in DPS for seven years before moving to Douglas County.

I grew up in the Midwest, was born in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, and then lived in Wilmette, IL.  I attended Purdue University where I earned my B.A. in Spanish and Education. Not long after graduating, I traveled around the world for 14 months before moving to Colorado.  I love learning and continued my education by earning a Master's in Elementary Education and another in Leadership and Administration.

I am passionate about brain research and focus much of my current professional development in that area and the science of reading.  I am a Healthy Schools Leader and provide professional development on mindfulness and also on resiliency through journaling.

In my free time, I like to spend time with my family and friends traveling, going to concerts, enjoying new restaurants, and hiking.  I also enjoy writing.

I LOVE teaching third grade and am thrilled to be a PGE Panther!   Here’s to a fabulous year!
